League of Ukrainian Canadians

The League of Ukrainian Canadians (LUC) and League of Ukrainian Canadian Women (LUCW) are non-partisan community organizations based in Toronto, ON, dedicated to strengthening Ukrainian-Canadian identity while fostering integration into Canadian society. These organizations provide comprehensive community engagement through cultural preservation, educational programs, and civic participation initiatives. LUC and LUCW organize and coordinate a range of activities designed to unite Ukrainian Canadians and supporters of Ukrainian independence around shared values of freedom, democracy, and human rights. The organizations facilitate cultural events, conferences, seminars, and public lectures that celebrate Ukrainian heritage while advancing awareness of Ukraine's political and historical significance. Through their publishing efforts, including the community newspaper Homin Ukrainy (Ukrainian Echo), LUC and LUCW maintain active communication with the Toronto-based and broader Canadian Ukrainian community. The organizations actively engage members in Canada's democratic political process, supporting politicians and policies that advance Ukrainian-Canadian interests and Ukraine's sovereignty. Additionally, LUC and LUCW coordinate humanitarian initiatives providing assistance to Ukrainian citizens and support partnerships with like-minded organizations working toward civil society development in Ukraine. Membership is open to individuals aged 18 and older who share the organizations' values and are willing to actively participate in community development. Whether through volunteering, event participation, or membership involvement, individuals in the Toronto area can contribute to building a strong, united Ukrainian-Canadian community while supporting democratic reform and independence efforts in Ukraine.
